Bluebonnet Belle

This World War II veteran is stuck and needs your help.  Learn more about the history of this aircraft and why you should help.

Our beloved Bluebonnet Belle is currently stuck in Oshkosh, Wis.  with a blown engine. Please help bring her home!

This C-47 Skytrain was built in 1944 at the Douglas Aircraft Company factory in Oklahoma City. She went to Europe in January 1945 to served the Royal Air Force with distinction for the remainder of World War II - In total, Bluebonnet Belle flew 75 missions, carried 402 passengers, repatriated 61 ex- POW’s and transported 459 casualties by the end of the War.

Postwar, Bluebonnet Belle returned to North America and flew primarily in Canada. In 2002, the Highland Lakes Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force rescued and restored her to combat configuration. The CAF Highland Lakes Squadron based in Burnet, Texas is a 501(c)3 organization.  Your tax deductible donation will help the aircraft return to the sky and support our mission of education and historical preservation.
